The Wishing Well

Hitchin,
Herts,
SG4 9EA.
Tel: 01462 458738

Under new management, a newish live venue, the stage is kind of a raised floor in between bars! So make way for the piss heads halfway through your set..

You get a good size crowd in and they all enjoy live music. Bands play on Fridays and Saturdays.

A small pub in Stevenage Old Town, It gets crammed in here! The pub genrally put on Blues, Rock and Heavy metal bands but we seem to pull the biggest crowds and the punters love a change every now and then.

This pub now has bands on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Like the Wishing well, we have to take up most of the floor blocking the toilets at one end, luckily they have more at the other end of the pub redirecting the punters... You always get a reasonable crowd in here that never want to go at the end of the night. ****

Harlow's music venue, The Square! A good place to play, they can video you as you play for a small fee, I've seen some of the videos and they look quite good. Three cameras capture the excitement throughout the set! Some people say the mixing isn't all that but I've never had a problem there. The crowd though seems a little sparse lately, but then they seem to be more into punk than Ska. *****

The club 85, Hitchin's premier music venue, check out www.alice-productions.co.uk and get yourself a gig. It's ok to play here but the last two times there were problems with the mixing desk, the engineer is deaf and can only mix heavy metal! ***

This is quite a respectable venue, the atmosphere is real good and the people from Bedford know how to party! A big stage with a barrier across the front with security staff and the hall hold 250 people. Three bands on means the two support bands only get half hour a piece! There is also a downstairs bar if you can't handle the noise. *****

Well this is one of those venues that's real friendly and the punters really enjoy themselves. This is well worth the highest venue award "10 stars" The man on the desk "Jay" knows exactly what he's doing and you can also strike up a deal with him to record the whole set onto minidisc! The venue hold about 100 and you get 100% of the door takings less the cost of PA hire. The only drawback was the flight of stairs, but then what are girlfriends for? *****

Zak's, what a nice friendly place to play, they treat you really well here, there is a room for the band to chill out which has a TV, Tea & Coffee and fridge full of beer! The sound engineer is pretty good and the hall holds about 200 people. The venue is open till 1am which means you don't go on till after 11pm. When the other pubs close in the area the punters tend to turn up at Zak's giving a full house.. Phil the owner, top man... *******

First time at the Boat Race was years back! The stage is bigger than I remembered it and the staff are very proffesional. Garath who recorded us live knows his stuff and produced a pretty good album. For the price of a tenner he done an amazing job. All the best to Stan and the staff at the Boat. *******

I recommend this venue to anyone and everyone, the Karen who runs it is a star! She makes you feel welcome with a cooked meal and also offers accomodation when you play there. (even when you don't (for a price)) Parking is across the street and it'll cost you about three quid. ******
